QPR are interested in making a double signing of highly-rated Arsenal youngsters Isaac Hayden and Chuba Akpom for next season, The Football Pyramid understands.

The Championship club, we understand, are hopeful of supplementing an experienced squad with the youthful exuberance of the young Gunners, as they look to mount a promotion challenge for 2016/17.

Rangers manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is believed to be a fan of Hayden, a natural centre-midfielder who can also play at centre-back, and goal-getter, Akpom, with the feeling that the duo can play a part at Loftus Road next year.

Moves to west London wouldn’t be the first time the youngsters have departed the Emirates Stadium together.

They both enjoyed productive season-long loan spells at Hull City last season, helping the Yorkshire side earn promotion back to the Premier League via the Play-Offs with a win over Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley.

As a result of promising campaigns, the Tigers are believed to want Hayden – who has played just twice for Arsene Wenger’s side – on a permanent basis, meaning the R’s will face competition for the 21-year-olds signature in particular.

Gaining such experience at the KC Stadium and being part of a group who earned a top-flight return at the first attempt despite their tender years, is also said to appeal to Hasselbaink and the QPR hierarchy.

Former Southend academy player Hayden featured 24 times for Steve Bruce’s side, scoring once and claiming one assist, while playing predominantly as a defensive midfielder.

Meanwhile, Akpom – who has four Arsenal appearances to his name – ended the campaign with seven goals in 41 games, a far from eye-catching record but one that must be put into context with the striker starting just 22 of those appearances.

Both players look to have futures at the Emirates Stadium, but a further season of development away from the club could be beneficial.
